Wendy's Worker Reveals How Its 'All-Natural Lemonade' Is Made in Buckets

A Wendy's worker has revealed how the chain makes its infamous "all-natural" lemonade, and it includes buckets and tap water.

The employee, who calls herself Naay online, shared a behind-the-scenes clip to TikTok, captioned: "Wendy's lemonade."

Dressed in the uniform and wearing an apron, she films three tubs filled with a yellow liquid, as she turns to an empty one in the restaurant, in an unknown location.

She declares "we're here to make lemonade," saying: "I already did them three but basically you just pour this."

Naay's holding a carton of Hubert's lemonade, which has lemonade base printed on the side.

Next she grabs a bag, and says: "Then for the strawberry you've got to pour this puree in," as she pours the mix into the lemonade base already in the tub.

She mixes it up, before popping each bucket in the sink and filling up with tap water, as she says: "You've got to fill it up to right here."

Naay films the full tubs, with lids on, sitting on the counter, as she says: "Now I'll show you how to make the lemonade we're giving ya'll."

She takes a branded plastic cup and fills it with tropical berry sauce, which she says normally would be filled with the original lemonade flavor. But as she's making it for herself, she changes up the size and flavor.

"You're supposed to fill it up to the four, but this is mine like I said," she said, explaining why she wasn't measuring out the recommended amount.

The clip ends with Naay, whose Instagram indicates she's from New York, sipping on the bespoke drink she made for herself.

She later revealed it was a "strawberry lemonade with tropical berry syrup," in case anyone else wants to order it.

Responding to comments, Naay summed up the lemonade-making process as "pouring a carton in a bucket and stirring it."

The Wendy's website lists pineapple mango lemonade, strawberry lemonade, tropical berry lemonade and its flagship all-natural lemonade as current flavours.

The website describes the original flavour, which costs $2.89 for a small and $3.59 for a large, as: "Real lemonade with no artificial ingredients or preservatives."

The ingredients are listed as water, sugar, lemon juice, lemon pulp, lemon juice concentrate and natural flavors.

While the nutrition information states it has 190 calories, with 25 grams of sodium, 47 grams of sugar and 50 grams of carbohydrates.

Naay's video has been watched hundreds of thousands of times since being uploaded at the beginning of last month, with fast food fans expressing their shock at the process.

Aliyah simply wrote: "Not the tap water."

Ny raved: "I'm about to go through the line and ask for the carton of lemon and puree, I'll do it myself."

"Ya'll act like the water is supposed to be Fiji water," Layyy pointed out.

Jailprnts stated: "This is why I'm glad I don't eat at Wendy's."

Des admitted: "Yeah just ruined it for me."

But Muah added: "And I'm STILL gonna drink it."

Newsweek reached out to Naay and Wendy's for a comment.
